The Numerical Studies Program for the Atmospheric General Circulation Experiment (AGCE) for Spacelab Flights
The atmospheric general circulation experiment (AGCE) numerical design for Spacelab flights was studied. A spherical baroclinic flow experiment which models the large scale circulations of the Earth's atmosphere was proposed. Gravity is simulated by a radial dielectric body force. The major objective of the AGCE is to study nonlinear baroclinic wave flows in spherical geometry. Numerical models must be developed which accurately predict the basic axisymmetric states and the stability of nonlinear baroclinic wave flows. A three dimensional, fully nonlinear, numerical model and the AGCE based on the complete set of equations is required. Progress in the AGCE numerical design studies program is reported
C.V.D. annual report: November 1965 research project RU27-1 :an analogue method for the determination of potential distributions in semiconductor systems
A general method for the solution of the nonlinear
Shockley-Poisson differential equation which
governs the potential distribution in non-degenerate
semiconductor systems is described which can be applied
to the evaluation of depletion layer widths, carrier
densities and capacitance bias relationships of p-n
junction structures.
The method is based upon the use of a particular
type of resistance network analogue and results obtained
for several one and two dimensional configurations are
discussed
X-ray diffraction analysis of Nb-3Ge and NbGe alloys
Of all the A-15 samples of NbGe alloy examined, DT 094 is unique in that it was at least 99% pure A-15 phase. Also its diffraction peaks were noisy as if there were about a one percent compositional variation on this phase. DT 094, however, was only a large fragment of the drop tube drop, and thus its small sample size may have reduced the intensity, thus enhancing fluctuations enough to explain some of the loss of peak resolution
Review of industry-proposed in-pile thermionic space reactors. Volume I - General
Diode and reactor design and nuclear fuels including uranium carbide alloys, uranium dioxide and uranium dioxide cermets for industry proposed in-pile thermionic space reactor
Pollution reduction technology program for small jet aircraft engines: Class T1
Small jet aircraft engines (EPA class T1, turbojet and turbofan engines of less than 35.6 kN thrust) were evaluated with the objective of attaining emissions reduction consistent with performance constraints. Configurations employing the technological advances were screened and developed through full scale rig testing. The most promising approaches in full-scale engine testing were evaluated
Acoustic Spectroscopy of Superfluid 3He in Aerogel
We have designed an experiment to study the role of global anisotropic
quasiparticle scattering on the dirty aerogel superfluid 3He system. We observe
significant regions of two stable phases at temperatures below the superfluid
transition at a pressure of 25 bar for a 98% aerogel.Comment: 2 pages, 2 figures, accepted for publication in proceedings of Low

The Aecial Stage of Alsike Clover Rust
A rust belongingg to the genus Uromyces is rather prevalent in this latitude on the common clovers, white (Trifolium repens L.), red (Trifolium pratense L.) and alsike (Trifolium hybridum L.). The rusts on clovers were formerly classified as a single species or one rust until the work of Liro separated them into two species, one on red and one on white clover. The disposition of the rust on alsike clover is not clear
Single Spore Isolation
During the past generation, Bacteriologists and Plant Pathologists have developed a technique for isolating unicellular forms of life. The purposes of these isolations have been to study the life history, polymorphism, physiology, parasitism and finally the classification of organisms. A brief historical review of these methods of isolation, especially those of single spores, might aid investigators in their researches and stimulate them to construct better apparatus and employ a superior technique
